La novantaseiesima edizione dei premi Oscar ha premiato Oppenheimer di Christopher Nolan come Miglior film dell’anno. Il lungometraggio che era partito con ben tredici nomination, ha concluso la serata con sette premi, tra cui anche Miglior regia, Miglior attore protagonista e non protagonista e vari premi tecnici.
Emma Stone ha ritirato la statuetta per la Miglior attrice protagonista. La star di Povere creature! ha battuto le colleghe Lily Gladstone, Sandra Hüller, Carey Mulligan e Annette Bening. Per lei si tratta del secondo Oscar, dopo quello vinto con La La Land.
Oltre a Oppenheimer e Povere creature! (Migliori scenografie, costumi e trucco), solo La zona d’interesse ha vinto più di un premio, quello come Miglior film straniero a discapito di Io capitano di Matteo Garrone.
